Abstract:
Thirty-two herbaceous peony cultivars were used as experimental materials and the 10 main characteristics were studied by the method of principal component analysis,and the ornamental characteristics were evaluated,to provide basic data and theoretical basis for the hybrid breeding of herbaceous peony.The results showed that the flower number was positively correlated with plant height,plant width and number of branches,and there was a positive correlation between flower color and flower spots.10 ornamental characteristics indicated that the accumulative contribution rate of six principle components including photosynthesis,flower covering,flower color,plant height,flower number and flower diameter reached 87.423%.Based on the model of ornamental evaluation established by the contribution proportion of six principle components as the weight coefficient,32 peony cultivars could be classified into four grades,and the comprehensive characteristics of ‘Taohuahuancai’‘Gaoganhong’‘Baiyuanzi’‘Laolaihong’‘Wawamian’ were the best.
