Abstract:
‘Nongfeng No.9’ is a new cowpea variety with premature senescence resistance.It was developed through systematic multi-generation selection after crossing N108 as the female parent and G15 as the male parent.The plants exhibit an indeterminate vine growth habit,with the majority of pods set on the main stem.The first flowering node is initiated at the 4th node,and the flowers are light purple.The young pods are green,long and cylindrical,with a length of 60 cm to 75 cm.The seeds are kidney-shaped,and the seed coat is reddish-brown.The average pod weight is 23.25 g.The average yield is 2 300 kg per 667 m2 in winter and spring open-field cultivation.It is resistant to rust and powdery mildew,and moderately resistant to fusarium wilt.It is suitable for cultivation in the coastal areas of South China.
