Abstract:
Allelopathy is one of the important reasons for causing continuous cropping obstacles and yield and quality decrease of gourd vegetables.The reports on the allelopathy of gourd vegetables were mainly focused on four species of cucumber,watermelon,pumpkin and muskmelon,but the allelopathic effects of balsam pear and bottle gourd were seldom reported,and the allelopathic effects of wax gourd,towel gourd,winter squash,summer squash,chieh-qua,chayote and snake gourd has not been reported.At present,the phenomenon and mechanism of autotoxicity,and allelochemicals and their effects on soil properties and Fusarium wilt in continuous cropping of gourd vegetables have been studied deeply.Studies of allelopathic effects of gourd vegetables on other plants were mainly focused on seed germination and seedling growth,while studies on allelopathic mechanism,environmental effects,specific allelochemicals and utilization are still weak.There was a little information about the allelopathic effects of gourd vegetables on other crops and weeds besides vegetables.Therefore,the multi-knowledge crossed research should be emphasized in the future so that the research results could be applied in the production to guide interplanting and intercropping,and to increase production and income while reduce fertilizer and drug application.
