Abstract:
The physiological and biochemical values were measured in fourteen melon cultivars after low temperature stress, including relative germination rate, relative germination potential, relative germination index, relative radicle length, relative shoots weight and relative vigor index during germination stage under 16 ℃ and 18 ℃ and relative electric conductivity, malondialdehyde content, proline content and peroxidase activity in leaves of melon seedlings under low temperature stress (4 ℃,7 ℃ for 8 hours,16 hours,24 hours, respectively).Identification methods and data of germination and seedling stages were evaluated under different low temperature stress conditions by multiple analytical methods,in order to provide a reference for the melon breeding of low temperature tolerance and the evaluation of cold tolerance of largescale melon varieties. The results showed that the suitable intensity was 18 ℃ at bud stage and 7 ℃ with treated 16 hours at seedling stage.Ten single indexes could be converted three independent comprehensive components by principal components analysis,14 melon cultivars were divided into four chillingtolerance types by cluster analysis. The mathematical evaluation model for melon cold tolerance was established,Y=0.404 9+0.400 4X.2+0.177 5X.5-0.029 1X.8-0.004 2X.9(R2=0.999 6),and the evaluation accuracy of the equation was higher than 96.75%,and four indexes closely related to the chilling tolerance were determined, which were relative germination percentage, relative shoots weight, malondialdehyde content and proline content. It would provide the basis for selection of cold tolerance melon.
