Abstract:
Seven Ilex cultivars were used as test materials.The influence of different concentrations of NaCl (0 g?L-1,3.0 g?L-1,6.0 g?L-1 and 9.0 g?L-1) for 50 days on the growth and physiological characteristics of two-year-old cuttage seedlings of seven Ilex cultivars were studied by pot culture in the plastic greenhouse,and membership function method was used to evaluate the tolerance of Ilex cultivars under NaCl stress,in order to provide a reference for determining the suitable area of the holly variety.The results showed that,1) Symptom,mortality and plant height growth of salt injury to Ilex cultivars were significantly correlated with stress duration and stress intensity.There were significant differences among Ilex cultivars.2) The Rec and MDA increased with the stress time and the stress concentration.SOD activity and soluble protein content increased at first and then decreased with the extension of stress days.The activity of POD increased at first and then decreased in the other six cultivars except ‘Blue Maid’ which increased continuously with the extension of stress days.SPAD decreased gradually with the extension of stress.3) The contribution rate and weight value of leaf salt injury index,Rec,MDA,soluble protein content and SPAD were higher,which could be used as the comprehensive evaluation index for the identification of seven Ilex cultivars resistant to NaCl stress.4) The comprehensive evaluation results of the membership function method showed that the degree of resistance to NaCl stress was as follows,‘Blue Maid’ >‘Emily Bruner’> ‘Tensaw’ >‘Anna′s Choice’> ‘Mary Nell’> ‘Savannah’ >‘Forstery’.
