Abstract:
In order to investigate the relationship between soil nutrient contents and vegetation growth status in different slope positions,the field experiment was conducted in hilly area of Dabie Mountain with biennials Atractylodes lancea.The soil bulk density (BD),soil water content (SWC),soil pH,soil organic matter (SOM),soil alkaline hydrolysis nitrogen (AN),soil available phosphorus (AP) and soil available potassium (AK) within 40 cm layers under upper slope,middle slope and lower slope have been studied.The results showed that with the increase of the slope level,the BD in the same layer increased,but the SWC,pH and contents of soil available nutrients decreased.The middle slope had lower SWC and higher soil nutrients contents than lower slope,and the difference were significant in 0-10 cm layers.Compared with lower slope,the SWC with 10 cm layers of middle slope decreased by 33.3%,and the contents of SOM,AN and AK increased by 27.5%,13.7%,335.6% and 37.8%,respectively,so the middle slope could provide more nutrients for plant development and finally had the highest aboveground biomass and rhizome dry weight among three positions.Further analysis found that the aboveground biomass and rhizome dry weight had significantly negative correlation with SWC,and had a significantly positive correlation with SOM,AP and AK.The lower contents of soil available nutrients in upper slope and the higher soil water content in lower slope were the main reason for limiting plant growth.Thus,the middle slope is better position to plant Atractylodes lancea due to the higher soil nutrient content.
