Abstract:
In order to measure the climatic risk of apple production in the Loess Plateau, the cross-sectional data of 17 apple-producing counties in Shaanxi,Gansu and Ningxia were used to calculate the perceived vulnerability index of farmer households and distinguish temperature-sensitive and-resilient farmer household groups to validate the relationship between various indicators of livelihood capitals in the Sustainable Livelihoods Framework and perceived vulnerability in two types of farmer household groups. It was found that 16 livelihood capital indicators had no effect on the perceived vulnerability of temperature-sensitive households;and the perceived vulnerability of temperature-resilient farmers increased with an indicator of the livelihood capital (family size). The Sustainable Livelihood Framework had limited impact on farmers′ perception of vulnerability, which should be combined with the farmers′ perception and adaptive behavior to classify vulnerable groups and reduce the vulnerability.
