Abstract:
Taking ‘Red Fuji’ apple as test material,with the long-branch pruning as control,the effect of renewal pruning on the number and proportion of different branches,fruit weight and yield in different years were determined in Weibei Plateau,Shaanxi province.In order to reduce the probability and extent of alternate bearing of apple tree in final full productive stage.The results showed that the renewal pruning significantly improved the number and proportion of turion,long branch and medium branch,significantly reduced short branch and foliage branch.Renewal pruning significantly decreased the number and proportion of vegetative branch,significantly increased fruit branch in on-year;but in off-year,renewal pruning significantly increased vegetative branch,significantly decreased fruit branch.The fruit weight and yield of renewal pruning remained at a certain level and changed to a lesser extent,but long-branch pruning had a magnitude change and significantly larger than renewal pruning.Renewal pruning could effectively reduce the probability and extent of alternate bearing of apple tree in final full productive stage.
