Abstract:
Analysis was conducted of the history and current status of citrus production in Guangdong using statistical data in order to supply theoretical basis for the healthy and rapid development of citrus production in Guangdong.The results showed that the total cultivation area and yield of citrus in Guangdong had been developped slowly from 1949 to 1984.From 1985 to 1990，the total cultivation area and yield of citrus had been ircreased rapidly.But from 1992 to 2000，the total cultivation area and yield of citrus had been significantly decreased.Since 2001，the total citrus cultivation area and yield in Guangdong increased rapidly year by year.And the total cultivation area and yield were reached 27.6×10.4 hm2 and 322.1×10.4 tons，respectively in 2009.The citrus production in Guangdong were still most important in the whole country.Guangdong already formed the citrus favorable areas with distinctive local characteristics according to local climate conditions.The Yangjiang，Zhaoqing and Northern mountains were the citrus favorable areas in Guangdong.And the per unit area yield were significantly different in the different areas.
