Abstract:
Low carbon development in agriculture and rural areas contributes to the achievement of Shandong Province′s ‘dual carbon’ goals.Using panel data from Shandong Province from 2000 to 2022,this study calculated the carbon emissions from 21 types of carbon sources in agriculture and rural areas,analyzed their spatiotemporal characteristics,and decomposed and explored the influencing factors using the LMDI model.The results showed that the total carbon emissions from agriculture and rural areas in Shandong Province exhibit an ‘M’-shaped trend,with rural residents′ energy consumption being the largest and most significant source of carbon emissions growth.The carbon emissions from agriculture and rural areas in 16 cities in Shandong Province showed a certain degree of imbalance,mainly concentrated in the western and southeastern regions.Agricultural production efficiency was the primary factor in suppressing carbon emissions from agriculture and rural areas,while urbanization and regional economic development level were key factors driving carbon emissions growth.The carbon emissions from agriculture and rural areas in Shandong Province had undergone a long-term evolution from rising to falling from 2000 to 2022,and carbon reduction efforts had been effective.In the future,efforts should continue to promote green development in agriculture and rural areas from multiple aspects.
