Abstract:
The seeds of Physalis alkengi L.were used as test materials,seeds germination and physiological characteristics of seedling were studied under drought condition which simulated by different concentrations of polyethylene alcohol (PEG-6000,3%,5%,8% and 10%).The results showed that the seed germination rate and germination potential of Physalis alkengi L.first increased and then gradually decreased as the PEG-6000 concentration increased,and up to maximum at 5%.Also plant height was maximum at 5% of PEG-6000.This indicated that a certain degree of drought stress could promote seed germination and seedling growth.The results of physiological indicators were showed that malondialdehyde content,soluble sugar content and electrical conductivity were continuous upward trend with the increasing of PEG-6000 concentration.Peroxidase activity showed a tendency of increasing first and then decreasing.
