Abstract:
Pak-choi varieties of ‘Xinchangqing’‘Suzhouqing’‘Xinxiaqing No.5’‘Kangre 605’ were used as test materials,to study the effect of different substrate water contents on the growth of Pak-choi.With the potting experiment in greenhouse, the differences among different levels of substrate water content were investigated at 100%(T1) of the biggest capacity,80%(T2),60%(T3),40%(T4).The effects of water capacity on photosynthetic characteristics and growth index were studied by measuring chlorophyll fluorescence parameter, chlorophyll, flavonoid, nitrogen balance index, biomass production of root and shoot, content of water, leaf area. The results showed that biomass production of shoot and leaf area followed by T2>T1>T3>T4,T2 and T3 were higher than T1 and T4.The root dry weight was ranked with T3>T4>T2>T1.With the decrease of substrate moisture content, the ratio of root to shoot showed an upward trend, while the water content of leaves showed a downward trend, the content of flavonoids decreased, and the nitrogen balance index increased. The moisture content of the substrate had different effects on the chlorophyll of different species, and it also showed different performances in different periods.Overall,T2 treatment was higher than other treatments.Actual quantum output of light(YII) and electron transfer rate(ETR) was ranked with T2>T1,T3>T4,there was no significant difference between T1,T3 treatment. In summary, the indicators of growth and chlorophyll fluorescence of Pak-choi treated with different substrate water content were significantly different, and 80% of the maximum water holding capacity of the substrate was the optimum moisture content.
