- Abstract:
- To provide scientific evidence and practical reference for seed storage in forestry,the seeds with different seed moisture contents (SMC) of Xanthoceras sorbifolia were obtained by silicone drying method with target at exploring the ultra-dry treatments on germination rate,germination index and vigor indicators.The results showed that similar rules were observed in both germination index and germination rate.The favorable seed moisture content ranged from 3.20% to 5.40%.The seeds of Xanthoceras sorbifolia were suitable for ultra-dried treatments.The optimal seed moisture content of 3.20% was proved to maintain the germination characteristics of Xanthoceras sorbifolia seeds.Principal component analysis(PCA) was used to reveal that the optimal ultra-dry treatment was seed moisture content of 3.20%.Considering the energy-consuming for SMC 3.20% and normal SMC 5.00%,it also indicated that ultra-dry treatment could be used as a new saving-energy seed storage method.
