Abstract:
Soil of Chinese dwarf cherry was taken as research object.Chinese dwarf cherry plants were grown in covered high ridges (H),ditches (D) and flat grounds (F) respectively to study their effects on soil temperature,soil humidity and fruit quality of Chinese dwarf cherry in the growing season (May to September).Chinese dwarf cherry grown in ditches without ground cover were used as control.The results were as follows:The soil temperature (20 cm-underground) in the daytime gradually increased with the prolongation of sunshine for all 3 treatments (H,D and F) and the control.Treatment H and D were higher soil temperature than the control while treatment F was lower soil temperature than the control.However,the sequential order of temperature increase amplitudes were H>CK>D>F.In the growing season,the soil temperature (09:30 am) of all treatments exhibited a pattern of increasing firstly and then declined.Additionally,treatment H,D and F had higher soil temperature than the control during the whole growing season.The soil humidity (20 cm-underground) of all treatments decreased firstly and then increased in the growing season.Treatment D had the highest soil humidity in the early stage of the growing season (before May 15th) and the sequential order of soil humidity in the middle stage of the growing season (from May 15th to July 13th) was H>CK>F>D.The soil humidity of the control was higher than other three treatments in the late stage of the growing season (after July 31st).The average fruit soluble solid contents of treatment H,D and F increased by 5.79%,11.09% and 7.30%,respectively comparing with that of the control while their average fruit titratable acid contents decreased by 23.65%,25.15% and 15.75% and their average fruit firmness also decreased by 15.86%,5.82% and 2.58% respectively.The average single fruit weight and average fruit water content were also lower than those of the control.In conclusion,ground covering could not only preserve the soil temperature and humidity,but also reduced soil moisture in the rainy season and increased the fruit quality of Chinese dwarf cherry.
