Title:: Effect of Different Water-soluble Fertilizers on Growth and Quality of ‘Xizhoumi No.25’ Thick-skinned Melon

Abstract:: ‘Xizhoumi No.25’ thick-skinned melon was taken as test materials.Six water-soluble fertilizers which were from different manufacturers were used to compare the effect of different nutrient proportion and sources fertilizers on growth,shape,singel fruit weight and sugar content of melon.The results showed that Sugumi fertilizer enhanced plant height and stem diameter in the vegetative growth stage.The effect of three import fertilizers on plant was better than domestic fertilizers.Weight per melon and central sugar content were higher in Haifajiabao and Puluowangshi fertilizers treatments at the mature stage.As a whole,although the effect of import fertilizers on melon was better than domestic fertilizers,weight per melon (1.260 kg) and central sugar content (15.54%) were also lower than the result of other areas.On the one hand,it was due to local soil properties;on the other hand,continuous cropping as a result of which diseases and pests attack intensified.So it should consider local specific conditions when using these fertilizers.
