Abstract:
Using the method of the potted pepper,the effects of the addition of magnesium on photosynthetic characteristics,dry matter accumulation and distribution of pepper were studied.Pepper ‘XJ8819’ were used and six magnesium levels,0,0.25%,0.50%,1.00%,2.00%,and 4.00%,were designed to measure each index.The results showed that the addition of magnesium improved the photosynthetic performance,and changed the rules of dry matter accumulation and distribution of pepper at low levels.With the increase of the concentration of the addition of magnesium,all the tested photosynthetic terms,leaf area per plant,SPAD,photosynthetic rate,dry matter accumulation amount showed a trend of rising firstly and decreased then.Among them,the treatment which the concentration of 1.00% was the best.Dry matter distribution rate,translocation amount,translocation rate,contribution rate of leaves were improved obviously,but the translocation rate and contribution rate of stems decreased.Photosynthetic terms and dry matter accumulation amount were lower than CK when the treatment concentration achieved 4.00%.Dry matter distribution rate,translocation amount,translocation rate,contribution rate of stems had no significant increase,but translocation amount,translocation rate,contribution rate of leaves decreased.This results showed that a high concentration of the addition of magnesium had a inhibiting effect on the photosynthesis of pepper.At the same time,this changed the dry matter distribution and translocation of pepper,making against the transformation from a vegetative organ to a reproductive organ of dry matter.In summary,the addition of magnesium promoted the photosynthetic performance and the rules of dry matter accumulation and distribution of pepper were optimized at low levels which were the best at the concentration of 1.00%,but had an inhibiting effect on the photosynthetic performance of pepper when the treatment concentration achieved 4.00%.As a result,the dry matter accumulation and distribution,the yield of pepper were unimpaired by the high addition of magnesium.
