Abstract:
Glycine betaine plays an important role in maintaining osmotic balance of cells under low temperature stress and could increase crops resistance.‘Liaoqie 6’ eggplant seedling was taken as test materials.Seedling root were irrigated with 20,30,40,50 mmol·L-1 glycine betaine,respectively.Under low temperature stress,the changes of physiological and biochemical indexes were analyzed,such as chilling injury index,osmotic substance content and activity of antioxidant enzymes,in order to study the influence of exogenous glycine betaine on eggplant seedling resistance.The results showed that under low temperature stress,40 mmol·L-1 exogenous glycine betaine solution could effectively reduce the electrolyte exudation rate,chilling index and malondialdehyde (MDA) content of eggplant seedling leaves,and the indexes were 0.51 times,0.65 times and 0.49 times of the water control,respectively.Adding exogenous glycine betaine could improve the recovery ability of eggplant leaves,and activities of SOD,CAT,POD and PAL.Indexes of recovery ability of eggplant leaves were 1.99 times of the water control.And,enzymatic activities of SOD,CAT,POD and PAL were 1.31,1.98,1.33 and 1.55 times of the control.So that,under low temperature stress,irrigating 40 mmol·L-1 glycine betaine could effectively reduce oxidative damage and enhance low temperature stress resistance of eggplant seedling.
