- Abstract:
- In order to clarify the response mechanism of clove to waterlogging stress,Syringa oblate and Syringa microphylla were taken as the materials, effects of waterlogging stress on physiological characteristics, such as root activity, total chlorophyll content, the activity of anaerobic respiration enzymes and antioxidant enzymes and the content of malondialdehyde (MDA),as well as morphological changes were studied by simulating waterlogging environment in pot.The results showed that the waterlogging resistance of Syringa microphylla was better than Syringa oblate.Waterlogging turned two cultivars leaves yellow and wilted, increased their root activity, decreased the chlorophyll content of Syringa oblate while increased the chlorophyll content of Syringa microphylla, made their activities of pyruvate decarboxylase (PDC) and alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) in both roots and leaves increased firstly and then decreased, made their activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and peroxidase (POD) decreased firstly then increased, increased their MDA content.
