- Abstract:
- The seeds of three Chinese kale cultivated varieties of ‘Zhonghua’ ‘Yinlyu’‘Number 25’ were used as materials to explore the effects of different concentrations of EMS treatment on seed germination and seedling growth in order to determine the best dosage of EMS (ethyl methyl sulfonate) on Chinese kale induced mutation breeding. The results showed that with the increasing of EMS concentration, the germination rate and seedling survival rate decreased, growth of seedling roots was inhibited, and the leaching electrolyte content of seeds was elevated. The physiological indexes after treatment of EMS were consistent between ‘Zhonghua’ and ‘Number 25’,but significantly different from the varieties of ‘Yinlyu’.The optimum concentration of EMS treatment for Chinese kale ‘Yinlyu’ seeds was 1.0%-1.5% for 6 hours.
