The adaptability of 11 cultivars of Citrullus lanatus were compared in arid area of Ningxia.The results showed that the watermelon variety of ‘Mingyu’ had better quality than the others according to the indicators of the yield,fruit quality,commodity and fieldgrown.The centre sugar content was 12.16%,the yield per 667 m2 was 2 150.7 kg,the fruit was not easily dehiscent.It was suitable for cultivation in solar greenhouse in arid area.So it could be planted for further demonstration of cultivar and enriching cultivar type.
