Abstract:
Based on stochastic frontier production function model，and using survey data of farmers planting muskmelon in Yiwu county in Xinjiang Province，this article estimated technical efficiency of their productions and analyzed factors which influenced technical efficiency.The results showed that the technical efficiency value was from 0.157 0 to 0.972 2，and average efficiency value was 0.598 6.Influencing factors such as farmer household income，the frequency of participating in technical training，the government subsidy and participating in cooperative had a significant effect on technical efficiency，while the technical efficiency of medium-scale planting melon farmers was significantly higher than small-scale farmers’.There was a significant loss of farmers planting technical efficiency，melon production as well as 40.14% of room for improvement.Household’s total income increasing and government subsidies promoted the technology applications，the technical services of cooperative and technical training from the professional organizations enhanced technical level of farmers，and moderate scale cultivation of melon improved the technical efficiency.
