Abstract:
Taking two watermelon varieties of‘Exigua No.16’and‘Jiayou’as test materials,effect of different rootstocks (‘Jingxinzhen No.4’,‘Xintuzuo’,‘H22’and‘H08-6’) on plant growth,fruit yield and quality of two watermelon were studied.Non-grafted plants were used as control.The results showed that grafting could enhance the growth rate of watermelon,single fruit quality and yield increased by 21% and 35%,respectively.While the contents of vitamin C and soluble protein were reduced by 20.8% and 13.5%,respectively.And grafting could not produce significant difference on fruit shape.Effect of soluble solids content and thick-skinned of grafted watermelon was not only concerned with rootstock choice,but also closely related to watermelon scion.
