Abstract:
Variegation plants had been widely used in landscape engineering and were an indispensable part of landscape.The variegation formation mechanism from these following aspects:genetic,plastid structure,ultrastructure,development and photosynthesis were overviewed in this paper,the reasons for variegation phenomenon,such as genetic variation,transpose on theory,biological evolution environmental factors and so on were also analyzed.The paper will be helpful for landscape practitioners to better understanding the variegation,especially for the genetics and breeding of landscape plants.
