Abstract:
Taking nine small fruit type watermelon cultivars as materials,the biological characteristics,high yield,disease resistance,commodification,quality,and other major economic characters of different small fruit type watermelon cultivars were investigated to do the comparison test in greenhouse in Qingdao.The results showed that the fruit yield of ‘Zhaoxia’,‘Milan’ and ‘Jinshuai’ increased by 35.0%,31.3% and 27.3%,respectively,compared with ‘Huangxiaoyu’ the control cultivar;the fruit had good flavor,resistance to storage transport,and higher commodity rate,with 93.5%,94.1% and 94.5% respectively.Flesh color of ‘Zhaoxia’ was special for orange,and had special promotion value;‘Jinshuai’ had good marketable with yellow skin and red flesh.The comprehensive character of ‘Milan’ was better with the golden yellow flesh.It was suggested that ‘Zhaoxia’,‘Jinshuai’ and ‘Milan’ would be bred in Qingdao.
