Abstract:

NumbersofpaperspublishedbyresearchersinChinaandothercountrieswereretrievedfromthe“ScienceCitationIndex”(SCI)databaseoftheUnitedStatesInstituteforScientificInformation(ISI)toinvestigatethestatusofhorticulturaldisciplineinChinainthepasttenyears.TheimpactfactorsofjournalspublishingthesepaperswerealsoobtainedfromISI.TheresultsshowedthattheUnitedStateswasthemostdevelopedcountryinthehorticulturaldisciplineswithinadecliningtrend.ThenumberofSCIpaperspublishedbyChineseresearchersrankedthesecondintheworld，anditwasincreasingsteadilyyear-by-year.90.5%ofSCIpapersbyChineseresearcherswerepublishedin10journals.Theaverageimpactfactorandthe5-yearaverageimpactfactorwerehigherforthe10journalspublishingChineseresearcher’spaperthanthetop10journalspublishingpapersbyresearchersinothercountries.However，theaverageimpactfactorandaverage5-yearimpactfactorforthe10journalspublishingChineseresearcher’spaperrankedtheseventh，whichwerelowerthantheaverageofthetop10countrieswiththehighestnumberofSCIpapers.
