Abstract:: On the basis of introducing the leaf plant of spring scenery, color leaf plant, frequently color leaf plant and spot color leaf plant, some principles of colored-leaf trees in landscaping were pointed out, such as biological habit combined with ecological habit, ornamental characteristics combined with ecological functions, coincidence with aesthetics principle. Colored-leaf trees application status and existing problems in the north were analyzed. Moreover, some proposals were put forward, such as expanding fine colored-leaf trees introduction, improving the resistance of excellent colored-leaf trees and developing more local species.
