Abstract:
DPPH (1,1-pheny-2-picrylhydrazyl) radical scavenging activies of the extracts of the banana waste with different solvent as well as those of 80% ethanol extracts of banana(peel and pulp)at different growth stage were determined;in addition,DPPH radical scavenging effect of the extracts of different waste from several cultivals of Musa were compared,in order to study the antioxidant activities of some banana waste.The results showed that most of the extracts with 80% ethanol or 80% methanol or 80% acetone showed very strong DPPH radical scavenging activies,of which 80% acetone extracts were a little stronger than others.Among all the materials,tender bracts and flowers showed very strong DPPH radical scavenging activities with the IC50 value of 0.6834 mg/mL and 0.6853 mg/mL respectively.DPPH radical scavenging activities of 80% ethanol extracts of the banana waste decreased in the order of tender bracts>flowers>green peel (unripe)>yellow peel (ripe)>old bracts>banana stalk.The DPPH radical scavenging activity of banana peel gradually decreased in the whole growth period,while that of pulp was just oposite.The DPPH radical scavenging activities of different cultivals decreased in the order of Williams B6 > Red Green > Plantain > Fenjiao.
