Study on Best Thickness of Culture Medium of Carpet Sod(PDF)

Abstract:: The trial used penertrating material as isolated layers，on which were equiped with 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 cm 6 different soil thicknesses.By watching，testing and recording each experiment’s lawn growing speed，the situation of picking up sod，the thickness of turf after their picking up as well as the weight of 1 m2 sod，and made contrasting experiments.The results showed that the cost of 1 cm was the lowest，but the picking was the most difficult，and the sod was broken up into many small pieces，hardly used；the 2 cm was better，still had 5~6 broken spots；the 3 cm was much better，only 1~2 broken spots，it could be pick up 1 m2 without any broken as a whole.Therefore，comprehensively considering the two aspect of the cost and the situation of picking up，the 3 cm was the best one.
